Jung Ho-seok (Korean: 정호석; born February 18, 1994), better known by his stage name J-Hope (stylized as j-hope), is a South Korean rapper, songwriter, dancer, and record producer. In 2013, J-Hope made his debut as a member of the South Korean boy band BTS, managed under Big Hit Entertainment.

J-Hope released his first solo mixtape, Hope World, worldwide on March 1, 2018. The album was met with a positive reception. His debut at number 63 (and subsequent peak at number 38) made him the highest charting solo Korean artist on the Billboard 200 at the time of the mixtape's release.

J-Hope was born as Jung Ho-seok on February 18, 1994, in Gwangju, South Korea, where he lived with his parents and older sister. Before debuting with BTS, he was part of the underground dance team Neuron and took dance classes at Gwangju Music Academy.J-Hope had been relatively well known for his skills in dance prior to his debut; he won various local prizes for dance, including placing first in a national dance competition in 2008. His skills in dance eventually led him to gain interest in singing, helping him to audition as an idol trainee. As a trainee, J-Hope was featured as a rapper in Jo Kwon's song "Animal", which was released in 2012.

This K-pop artist is known for being one of the main dancers and rappers for the boy band BTS. Aside from that, he’s the performer behind the chart-topping mixtape, Hope World, which premiered earlier in 2018. During an interview with Time Magazine, the artist elaborated on his solo music and inspirations.

“I actually don’t preoccupy myself with ‘I’m going to do this kind of rap in this kind of genre’ kind of thinking when I work. I went with and got my beats from what appealed to me, what drew me in and what felt good. The way I work is very on-the-spot flow, and I write the rap and the music as I feel them coming,” J-Hope said.

Now, J-Hope is back with a new single, which he recorded while BTS was on their period of rest and relaxation. Alongside J-Hope is the American singer Becky G, who previously sang with artists like Pitbull. Her best-known song is Sin Pijama, which has over 400 million streams on Spotify.

The two artists collaborated for a song and music video, entitled “Chicken Noodle Soup,” which premiered on Sept. 27, 2019. It jumped to one of the top trending spots on YouTube, currently with almost 25 million plays on YouTube.
