‘Christmas Bubble’ will be officially released tomorrow (Friday, December 4) on music download sites, performed by Stay Safe, a collection of around 20 local children and singer/songwriter Chris Clark, who came up with the song. Chris came up with the concept in September as a Christmas project with William Alvey School where pupils would sing separately and it would be digitally stitched together. Tightening pandemic restrictions prevented this, so he teamed up with local Street Star Live studio and invited any interested local children to get involved. Then with lockdown descending in November, he quickly recorded the individual parts and filmed the children at the studio in just two days
“I sang it to them and they sang it back to me,” said Chris. “I got them shaking bells, stamping feet, beating drums and clapping hands, as well as filming them on ‘green screen’. It sounds amazing. I don’t know how we managed it.” Since then he has been beavering away producing the song and editing the promotional video ready for release. Chris said: “It has a very positive message and the lyrics are very current. I would love to get the song in the charts somehow.” He said he is “hugely excited” about the official release. “The song has gone down so well with everyone. When the video came out on Wednesday, I was inundated with lovely messages and comments from hundreds of people. It appears that our message of hope and positivity has shone through, and it’s getting people in the mood to make the best of this Christmas, despite the obvious hardships we have all had to endure throughout 2020.
“All the members of Stay Safe are incredibly proud of what they have achieved. To bring something together like this, during a national lockdown is no mean feat.” He said a number of people have shed a tear at the video. “It has obviously tapped into the emotions that we are all feeling, this year. With the song going on sale this week, the next step is to urge everyone to buy it, and, not only put Sleaford on the map, but to give these amazing children a slice of festive fame.” Chris has a track record of festive songs. He previously recorded a solo effort called Christmas Number One, then returned with William Alvey Christmas performed by pupils at the school. Then last year he produced a video for a seasonal tune performed by TV star Basil Brush.
