About Getting Good

Lauren Alaina (born Lauren Alaina Kristine Suddeth on November 8, 1994) is an American singer, songwriter, and actress from Rossville, Georgia. She was the runner-up on the tenth season of American Idol. Her debut studio album, Wildflower, was released on October 11, 2011. Her second album, Road Less Traveled, was released January 27, 2017. Alaina later achieved her first number one on the Country Airplay chart with the album's title track. Her second number one came later that year when she simultaneously topped five Billboard charts with her friend and former classmate Kane Brown on their duet "What Ifs".

Lauren Alaina’s newest single, "Getting Good," shows a reflective, softer side of the 24-year-old Georgia native, and it is where she truly shines.

“Once I fall in love then I’ll be happy / But then you fall in love and there is still a hole," is one heck of an opening line for a new song.

Written by Emily Weisband and produced by David Garcia, "Getting Good" successfully walks the line between a catchy melody and heartfelt lyrics, showing that Alaina has grown into her artistry. Her impeccable vocals capture the emotion of the song, which is instantly addictive.

The ACM New Vocalist of the Year sings, “I’m afraid of both my parents dying,” in a sucker-punch line, clearly affected by the tragic loss of her stepfather, Sam, in October 2018. Clearly, this hit home for Lauren and adds another layer of depth to her music, unlike what we've seen before from her.

Despite the deep reflecting theme of this song, it ends on a positive, hopeful note: "I’m thinking once I learn to soak up every moment / I’ll realize my life’s already good," she sings.
